North Shields Guinea Pig Rescue takes in abandoned and unwanted guinea pigs and helps them to find loving forever homes where they will be cared for properly.
In 2008, the rescue took in and rehomed over 101 guinea pigs. So far this year, the rescue has taken in over 126 unwanted, abandoned or neglected guinea pigs, and found homes for 110 (02/11/09).
The rescue is entirely independent and self-funded. It makes no profit. Most of the funds to support it is from myself. Although donations from adopters also help.
A major part of the rescues ethos is to help to educate guinea pig owners on how to care properly for their guinea pigs. So many of the guinea pigs who have come to the rescue have been neglected and not cared for properly for years. I want to prevent this from happening by educating owners from the beginning on how to care for them, and allowing potential adopters to make an informed decision about whether they are a suitable home for a guinea pig.
If you feel you could give a good home to a pair
of guinea pigs or are looking for a companion guinea pig please get in touch. There are always guinea pigs looking for good homes.
Please also read through the adoption policy to ensure that you are able to provide the time and care a guinea pig requires.
If you
need help rehoming a guinea pig or know of a guinea pig in need please also get in touch and I will help if I can.
