Pet Shops
I encourage people to not buy products from pet shops that sell live animals.
The animals in some large
pets stores come from animals mills, which purposely breed animals to stock pet shops. One big chain pet store in particular
put a huge strain on rescues, as a lot of people buy animals from them without being fully informed of the care the animal will require.
This particular store puts a disclaimer on its receipts stating that it cannot guarantee the sex of the animal and accepts no responsibility
for this. It also does not guarantee that female animals are not pregnant. This store will often not take back the litters
to find them homes. Instead these litters arrive at rescues, often along with the parents to be rehomed.
If a pet store cannot
guarantee sex nor take any responsibility for this it should not be trading animals. As a rescue I can 100% guarantee an animals sex
and have never made a mistake, if I did I would take full responsibility for this.
Therefore I ask people to shop
at pet stores that don't sell animals; Jolley's in particular is a very good pet store.

IAMS and Proctor and Gamble contiune to carry out cruel and unnecessary testing on guinea pigs and other innocent animals
Despite
seling pet food both IAMS and Proctor and Gamble continue to fund laboratory testing on animals including cats, dogs, rabbits and
guinea pigs. Undercover reporters have captured videos and images of the suffering that is inflicted upon these poor animals. This
is cosmetic testing and is completely unnecessary.
IAMS and Eukanuba are Proctor & Gamble brands of pet food.
In May 2001
Uncaged exposed horrific accounts of cats and dogs used and killed in experiments for IAMS/Eukanuba with a front page story in the
national press. Our research uncovered scientific papers that describe IAMS funded experiments on hundreds of previously healthy animals
that caused: kidney failure, obesity, malnutrition, liver damage, severe allergic reactions, stomach inflammation, diarrhoea, skin
disorders, lesions and other painful conditions. Many of the animals died as a result of the experiments or were killed and dismembered
for tissue analysis.
As a result of our campaign IAMS have announced that cats and dogs will no longer be killed in experiments. When
pushed they admit that other species of animals will still be killed in their pet food research. One IAMS executive has stated that
he sees no problem with cats and dogs spending their entire lives in cages for experiments.
You can read more about this and
view some of the footage on the following website, but please be aware the images are very upsetting.
Procter
& Gamble (P&G) are the world’s largest consumer products company, with an annual turnover of over $68 billion. Traditionally
known for soaps and detergents, they now produce a massive range of products in hair care, cosmetics, perfumes, personal hygiene,
laundry products, snack food, paper and feminine hygiene – and even pet food.
P&G admit that guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters,
ferrets, rats and mice are among the animals poisoned in their ‘product safety research’, and cats and dogs are used in experiments
for their pet foods. P&G are very secretive about their toxicity tests, where chemicals are repeatedly force-fed to animals,
rubbed into their raw skin, or dripped into their eyes. Other brutal tests include forcing animals to inhale chemicals or injecting
substances up their noses.
Money is the only language P&G understand. Ultimately, by boycotting P&G, you hold the key
to saving the many thousands of animals who suffer and die every year in cruel and unnecessary tests conducted by this company.
