Last month (August 2009) it cost £275 to run the rescue. This fluctuates month to month, depending on how many guinea pigs are at
the rescue and whether there are a lot of poorly guinea pigs requiring treatment.
The rescue is self-funded and therefore relies
on donations to help with the continued running of the rescue. Most of the rescue is funded by myself, but donations from adopters really
help support the guinea pigs here.
At the moment I am trying to raise more funds to enable me to neuter more of the guinea pigs
that come into the rescue. This will mean that lone male guinea pigs will be able to find good homes more quickly as they can live
with females. Often they are left waiting a while as there are no baby boars to pair them up with. We are grateful for the RSPCA's
recent gift of 8 neutering vouchers that will enable some of the longstanding single boars to be neutered and join female friends.
They will definitely be much happier!
I would also like to raise more funds to help raise publicity of the rescue, to ensure
that guinea pigs that are unwanted can come here rather than being dumped or left neglected.
Donations/Fundraising
If you
would like to support the rescue there are many ways you can, I am always grateful for donations of:
· Guinea pig nuggets, hay, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The guinea pigs really appreciate donations of this kind!
· Unwanted hutches, preferably over 4 foot in length, condition is not important as we can always fix them up here.
· Unwanted household items, clothes etc. I am going to try to arrange some car boot sales, this will help raise funds and publicity.
I am happy to collect any items for car boot sales
· If you would like to make a cash donation please click on the donate button or get in touch. This helps to pay for veterinary treatment and also mite treatments. It will also help save up for neutering.
· Any donations from larger companies – WAGG donated
4 bags of their food which really helped.
If you have any other ideas or know of any fairs or car boot sales that are happening
please let me know.
I currently do not have charity status. In order to register as a charity I have to have an income of over
£5000 a year, at present I am no where near this, but hope that someday in the future this may be possible.
Many thanks for your
continued support.
