The following guinea pigs are at the rescue and are waiting for loving forever homes. I try to update this page regularly, but not all the guinea pigs are shown, so please get in touch if you are looking for a specific piggy.

Please remember guinea pigs live for up to 7 years so a lot of thought needs to be given before rehoming a guinea pig. It is not a case of how quickly can I get one, thought and research needs to go into making  this decision.

Guinea pigs adopted from the rescue must also not be kept on woodshavings, they are completely unsuitable for piggies and pose health risks.

Guinea pigs will not be rehomed as the sole responsibility of a child (under 18 years old). A guinea pig is a animal and not a toy and therefore needs a caring and dedicated adult to be responsible for its care. Many of the guinea pigs come to me because they have been bought for children who lose interest. This is not fair on the piggies. I do rehome piggies to be part of families, but there must be an adult interest.

Looking for Homes

Albie and Gogo: Albie is a huge guinea pig weighing an enormous 1.4 kgs. He is three years old and very cuddly and tame. Sadly Albie has tumours in his groin and under his arms. Therefore he will stay at the rescue to live out the end of his life in comfort with his friend Gogo!

Been here a long time now...Ratty and Didi:  Hi we are Ratty and Didi. We have been at the rescue a while now and although we like it here we would really like a home to call our own. We love coming out to play and being cuddled. Layla always tells people how friendly we are and says we have adorable personalities. But for some reason we haven't found a family who wants us to join them. We have so much love and fun to give. We are both neutered, so would like girlfirends, but we also like each other so would be just as happy staying together. Please come and meet us! Reserved pending home check.

Would like to get these girls into a home asap...Biscuit and Molly: Biscuit is about a year old and Molly is about a year and a half old. They both live together quite happily but prefer to sleep in seperate beds so need a home that has seperate bed areas for them. They are a little shy of being picked up but are very enquistive when out in the run. They would be better suited to a quiet home without very young children.
Arrival at rescue:  September 2009
Alfie, Beatrice and Eugenie: Alfie is a handsome and very vocal boar.  He was picked up as a stray so I don't know how old he is, but he is young, about 8-9 months old. He has been neutered and has settled well with the girls. Beatrice and Eugenie are a pair of very prety tri-coloured sows. They are about 2 and a half years old and were no longer wanted as the children  lost interest! They have not been handled much so are a bit skittish. The girls must be rehomed together, and if possible Alfie owuld like to join them.
Arrival at rescue:  September 2009
Angel: A vey friendly sow. She is a tri-coloured abyssinian, and is very friendly. she is about 4 years old and recently lost her companion. She needs to be rehomed to live with another female or a neutered male. Photo to follow.

Arrival at rescue:  October 2009
Permanent Residents at the Rescue
Some guinea pigs come into the rescue and can't be rehomed as they have health problems. Therefore they stay at the rescue to live out their days in comfort.
Fleur: What a character! She is a very unusual looking guinea pig. Very small with rex like fur. She is about 2.5 years old. She has had an extensive amount of  dental work done, the vet didn't really know how she was still alive her teeth were in such a bad way. But she is getting by, although she will only eat brown bread! She is very lively and has moved in with my piggies (Fleur is the piggie in the middle!), and is always chasing me around the yard. Update: Very sadly Fleur died over the weekend. She will be greatly missed here.
Arrival at rescue: June 2009
Hemp and Henna: A pair of sows, aged about 1.5 years. Came into rescue because the 'child lost interest'. Hemp is a pretty abyssinian guinea and Henna is a rather chubby cuddly piggy. They are very sweet girls and would like a home where they will be loved lots. Reserved pending home check
Arrival at rescue:  October 2009
Here come the boys...On Monday I was called by an RSPCA inspector who had picked up 5 young boars who had been abandoned in a box. They are young, probably about 5 months old. They are all quite tame and will all be neutered.

Trick and Treat: These boys are black and white and getting on ok together at the moment. Like all guinea pigs they like their good!

Fizz, Sherbert and Pumpkin: These three will need to be rehomed indivdually. Fizz and Sherbert are lemon agoutis, and Boo is a pretty pink eyed ginger piggy. They will be neutered next week and will be looking for girlfriends after this. Photo to follow.
Arrival at rescue:  October 2009
Boo and Casper: A pair of two and a half year old boars. Sadly in rescue due to the owner having a baby. Very small piggies who would like a home asap. Photo to follow
Arrival at rescue:  October 2009
Harriet and Ginger: Two 7 month old sows. Bought for a 7 year old who lost interest. They came in with mites and not looking very well. So are being treated back to health. Would really like a home where they are going to be more than a childs toy, and a loved part of the family. Photo to follow.
Arrival at rescue:  October 2009
Appeal November 2009: At the moment the rescue is full with 21 guinea pigs waiting for homes,  and 9 needing to come in urgently due to abandonment. This means I am getting through supplies very quickly, about a 2.5 kg bag of guinea nuggets every 1-2 days!

So I am appealing for donations of guinea pig nuggets, vegetables and hay, to keep the piggies here well fed and happy!

As adopters are scarce at the moment, the usual support from adoption donations isn't coming in either, which means that funding for the rescue is very low.

Also if anyone would be interested in short-long term fostering of a pair or single piggy please get in touch!

Thanks

Layla
